Phil Collins' Going Back Receives A Warm
Response in the United States - At Least It Appears That Way So Far!
We already know Phil Collins' new album, Going Back, hit #1 on the
U.K. charts this past week. The big question is, will this response be
repeated in the U.S. or will it receive a cold reception? Well, if
Amazon.com, a major on-line retailer is any clue, I think the album will
chart well in its opening week in America. This week Collins' new album is
the #26 best selling album in all genres of music on the popular U.S.
retail website. We won't know more for a few more days, but that's an
impressive ranking considering how many musical genres and titles Amazon
sells!

Mario Giammetti Releases a New Genesis
Biography
Italian fans (and speakers of the Italian language) can rejoice in the
release of Mario Giammetti's newest Genesis biography,
The Musical Box:
Genesis Songs A-Z (Musical
Box - Le canzoni dei Genesis dalla A alla Z).
Giammetti's new
biography discusses the composition, music and lyrics of each Genesis song
from A-Z. While I do not speak
Italian, Mario's reputation as the leading Italian language biographer on
Genesis and its members certainly gives tremendous credibility to this
release (Mario has also written Italian language biographies on Phil
Collins, Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Anthony Phillips, and Steve Hackett).
Giammetti is also known to Genesis fans for the great Genesis
Dusk fanzine and website.

ABC News Posts New Billboard
Interview with Phil Collins
ABC News
posted a new 4-page Billboard interview with Phil Collins in support
of his new album,
Going Back. In addition to talking about the making of the new
album, Collins is asked about the prospect of returning to Genesis at some
point. Collins' response was, "I think Genesis are no longer. I don't
foresee me doing any more Genesis shows. Not because I don't like it or
don't want to. But it doesn't fit in with my life and wanting to be with the
boys, and taking onboard (other interests like) the Alamo and writing a book
about that. And the other stuff that I'd like to do -- and that includes
doing nothing as well. But also, I can't physically play the drums. I don't
want to sound like a spoiled kid, like I've had my stuff and I don't want to
do it anymore. But I have done it all my life, and now I'm enjoying another
side of life."
Collins also talks about the prospect of doing a new studio album at
some point in the future. He explains, "I haven't got the material
yet. That kind of thing starts to answer itself when you sit down in the
studio and try to write. I've got two or three things that I really like
that I've already written. They're very dark, very sad, some of them. But
I'm still at the same point that I was: If something was to come up behind
me and surprise me, I'd put it out. Whether I'd put it out in the
traditional way is another question." Be sure to check out this great
interview!
