Update On The Return of The Official Genesis Forum
The webmaster of the
official Genesis site had a hidden version of the soon to be available,
newly revamped Forum up today for Moderators to test out for "bugs." It looks
and works great! I'm guessing it will be on-line again any time now. The
webmaster is also putting
the Phil Collins
official site's Forum on the same dedicated server, so that should be back
soon as well. As stated here previously, please note that due to the fast pace by which the Forums have
moved and been implemented on the new server, that all old content from the
previous Forum is basically gone.
You will need to create (or recreate) your username and password when it's
officially back open for business.

Virtual Phil Collins Featured On
Trailer For New Video Game
| On the
downloadable trailer for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories,
which is released on PSP on October 31st, you will see a virtual Phil
Collins performing "In The Air Tonight" in concert. In the '80s, Collins
became almost synonymous with the television series Miami Vice, in
which Collins' music became an integral part of the soundtrack (as well as
an appearance as "Phil The Shill" in an episode). You can read about Phil's
personal thoughts about his new digital self
here. |

Peter Gabriel Unveils The Filter
For Download Enthusiasts
According to an article in today's
Telegraph, Peter Gabriel is announcing the launch of The Filter. The
Filter is designed to study the music stored on a computer and suggest other
albums and artists based on the owner's tastes. The software is available to
download free from the Internet, and it lets people click on a single track in
their music library and create a play list of similar songs for a PC or iPod.
Gabriel, who owns a share of The Filter's parent company, believes the software
is the most intelligent of its kind. "I think we are drowning in information and
choices and you really need good filtering to help you get the stuff you really
want," said the ex-Genesis vocalist. The Filter is available at
www.TheFilter.com and while it is only
available for Apple MACs right now, a Windows version is already in the works.

Gabriel Discusses The State of Genesis; US and Euro Genesis Tour Dates Mentioned
In Article
Today on
NewKerala.com, Peter Gabriel comments that Genesis rehearsals are going well
(despite his lack of involvement). Gabriel stated, "I think [the Collins, Banks,
and Rutherford Genesis line up] seemed to be enjoying the rehearsals from what
I've heard, so there's no bad feeling there." It also speaks of Genesis' plans
to tour the United States and Europe as part of their reunion.

News About The Official Genesis Site
For those of you who miss the Forum section on
the official Genesis
site, I have some news. The webmaster of the official site is hopeful that
Genesis' management will approve his suggestion that the site be moved to a
dedicated Invision server.
The official Phil
Collins site will then move there also. The Forums will be back on-line
shortly. The bad news is that all postings on the old Forum (as well as User
Names apparently) will be lost and everyone will need to start from scratch.
More news on this when I get it. In other news, expect a revamping of the
official Genesis site soon!

BBC News Confirms Genesis
Reunion; New Album From Banks, Collins and Rutherford Possible!
According to the
BBC, the Genesis reunion is confirmed and will happen. The article states
that a spokesman for Genesis said specific details of the forthcoming tour and
"long term plans," including possible NEW material, would be announced in
the next few weeks. Classic Rock Magazine further announced that there would be
a press conference on November 7th announcing Turn It On Again - The Tour.
The reunion will include the popular '80s line-up of Phil Collins, Tony Banks,
and Mike Rutherford. The
official Genesis site acknowledges the press conference and says it will
post more information that day. Peter Gabriel confirmed that there were talks of
his participation at one point, but that he has decided not to participate. More
on Peter Gabriel's decision can be read
here.

World of Genesis.com
gets a Face Lift!
For those who missed it,
this site has been completely transformed. The old "look" of the site is dead
and buried (with the exception of the screen shot you can see on the laptop of
the Genesis loving bikini babe above!). Some of the features are not quite ready
to go "live," but if something you recall from the old site is missing,
not to fear, it will
be back soon... Along with a number of new items for your viewing pleasure! There are many new updates coming soon, so be sure to check back often!
New additions will be added to the news section of this site. So much to do...
So little time!

Nick Davis Provides Updates On The
Forthcoming Genesis Remastered Back Catalog
Nick Davis provided an update on the 5.1 Genesis back catalog reissues. Nick
stated, "I still think there is a very good chance that the albums will come out
on a regular DVD-V format and a hi-res (high resolution) format in the same
package. This is what I am hoping for. As far as I know, they will be released
in 'eras' with Trick of The Tail through to Abacab being the first
releases." Nick says that it is looking very much like DVD-V on one disc and
SACD hybrid (5.1 and the two stereo versions) on the other. (Webmaster's note:
The two stereo versions refers to the stereo CD and stereo SACD layers - there
is not a plan to include the original stereo mix at this time despite what you
might be reading elsewhere).
