U.S. CD+DVD of Genesis' Calling All
Stations Includes Bonus Material Not Intended For Release
On the U.S. CD+DVD package for the newly remixed and remastered Genesis album
Calling All Stations, you may find a surprise. On the DVD disc (disc 2),
after watching the EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for the album if you allow the
track to continue playing you will be treated to a number of bonus video content
which was not intended for commercial release (and not available elsewhere
commercially!).
Among the bonus material is:
1. The second half of "Congo" live in concert (Nova broadcast)
2. "There Must Be Some Other Way" live in concert (which is already included on
the commercial release)
3. The unedited EPK which includes additional video content like the digital 3-D
mock of of the Calling All Stations Tour stage design, Genesis talking
about the stage design with their manager at The Farm (their studio), Ray
talking about how excited he is to be playing Madison Square Garden in New York
on the tour (which never happened and was understandably omitted), and more
4. Clips from Genesis' live debut of Calling All Stations in North America (they
only live appearance on the continent from that tour) at the Kennedy Space
Station in Florida (including "No Son of Mine", "Not About Us" and "Turn It On
Again" in a semi-acoustic live setting). These appear to be in mono and are not
the full performance - just brief clips.
5. Excerpts from the Genesis press conference in 1997 at the NASA / Kennedy
Space Station in Florida including interviews with Ray, Tony and Mike along with
a brief photo shoot.
6. Footage of Genesis touring the Kennedy Space Station and posing for pictures
7. A couple of web design people talking about their work on the original
official Genesis website
8. Interviews with two scientists at the space station about Genesis (very
brief)
9. Interview with the public relations person at the space station (also very
brief)
I suspect that this original pressing may be short lived. If you want a copy, I
would highly recommend ordering one soon. There is no guarantee that it will not
be reissued with this rare bonus content removed. According to Nick Davis, this
material should never have been included by WEA in the United States and was
clearly an error. Get one while you can!
