Nick Davis Confirms 13 Bonus Tracks For The
First Batch of New Genesis 5.1 Remasters
On the
official Genesis Site's Forum, Nick Davis (the band's long time Engineer,
Producer, and the person remixing their back catalog in 5.1 surround sound)
confirms that the first batch of Genesis remasters will include 13 bonus tracks
including "Match of The Day" and "Me and Virgil" which were excluded from the
Genesis
Archive #2 box set. One would assume these 13 bonus tracks from
the first batch of releases, which have been identified as being the studio
albums from 1976's Trick of the Tail through 1981's Abacab, would
be: "It's Yourself", "Match Of The Day", "Pigeons", "Inside And Out", "The
Day The Light Went Out", "Vancouver", "Evidence Of Autumn", "Open Door", "Paperlate",
"You Might Recall", "Me And Virgil", "Submarine", and "Naminanu." More on the
remasters should follow soon. As reported earlier this month, those first batch
of albums are scheduled for release in March 2007.

Steve Hackett Wishes Phil, Mike, and Tony Well Despite Excluding Him From The
2007 Reunion
In a posting on his
official website, Steve Hackett provided well-wishes to Genesis members Phil
Collins, Tony Banks, and MikeRutherford on their 2007 Genesis reunion tour.
Despite the tabloid-esque
Contact Music article on the subject entitled "Steve Hackett Blasts Peter
Gabriel," it appears that Hackett understands the band's decision to tour with
the popular late '70s to early '90s three man line-up (accompanied by Daryl
Stuermer and Chester Thompson) rather than include him. Hackett cites Peter
Gabriel's decision not to participate as the primary motivator for this decision
by Collins, Banks, and Rutherford, which the band also communicated in their
November 7th press conference announcing the tour last week (webmaster's note:
You're a class act, Mr. Hackett. Much respect to you!).

Daryl Stuermer Provides Insight Into The 2007 Genesis Reunion
In a post on the
official Daryl Stuermer site, Daryl left this message:
"Hello Everybody,
In the
last few months, I have received a lot of e-mails regarding the rumor of a
Genesis reunion tour. Sorry that I couldn't answer the question - but I was
sworn to secrecy! Now that it is public knowledge, and you've seen the dates for
the “Turn It on Again” tour, I can fill you in on a few things.
Last
month when Mike, Tony, Phil, Chester, and I got together to rehearse in New
York, it was evident that the magic was still there. It felt like the 80's and
early 90's all over again. We started right in playing and by the time we took
the first break - we all knew it was going to work. Mike remarked that he
couldn't believe that it had been 14 years since our last gig. I replied, "It
feels like 14 months." There is something very timeless about the music. I am
very excited to be a part of this reunion, and I'm especially thrilled at the
prospect of seeing all of the fans and friends along the way. I do read all of
your e-mails even though time doesn't allow me to answer as many as I'd like.
Once
the 2007 rehearsals and touring begin, I will get back to writing "Notes From
The Road" for my website. I will also bring my camera and post some behind the
scene candid photos from the rehearsals and the European tour.
Looking
forward to seeing you all!
Best
Regards,
Daryl
Stuermer"

News From The Genesis Press
Conference
Genesis revealed that
songs from the 2007 reunion tour will date back to 1973 and will include
some of the longer instrumental pieces and, of course, the double drums that
became synonymous with the Genesis tours of the late '70s to early '90s.
Among some of the older songs the band is rehearsing are "Afterglow" and
"Los Endos." Other songs Tony mentioned in giving examples included "In The
Cage" and "Domino" as well as the hits most people would come to expect.
There will be no music from the group's final studio album, Calling All
Stations, included in the tour. There are also no plans to include the
hard-core fan favorite "Supper's Ready" from 1972's Foxtrot. When the
idea of the Genesis reunion with the 5-piece line-up with Peter Gabriel and
Steve Hackett fell apart, the group decided to peruse the idea of the
three-piece line-up complimented with Daryl Stuermer and Chester Thompson.
Hence, Steve Hackett was excluded despite his apparent interest in the
reunion.

 |
Genesis
also shared that they have been actively rehearsing for the past two weeks
in New York, but there are no plans to do any new studio material at this
time. In addition to the dates below for Europe, the band plan to play about
20 dates in North America. There have been talks about releasing the tour
later as a live album or video, but nothing is officially confirmed yet.
Collins also acknowledged that he still has some hearing loss since getting
a rare viral infection in the late '90s but wants to "do a series of shows"
anyway, and commented that Genesis stated that the tour is purely for their own enjoyment and not for
financial gain, sharing that if the motivation was money that there would be
more dates of the tour. More on the reunion tour will be posted when it is
known!
