Gabriel Says There Will Be No Genesis Reunion; Gabriel To Meet With
U.S. Senate In Aid of Burma
According to a post on the fan site Genesis-News.com,
Peter Gabriel announced on March 28th in Aachen, Germany that there are
no official plans for a Genesis reunion. According to the site, Gabriel
claims that it was discussed, but he would rather try new ideas instead
of revisiting the past. Gabriel, who was in Germany for to receive the
Innovation award from the Irene Ludwig Donation, is headed next
to the United States.
Peter Gabriel will visit the U.S. Senate on April 4, 2006 to host a film
screening and discussion on the need for continued support in ending
egregious human rights abuses in the Southeast Asian country of Burma,
where more than a million people have been forcibly displaced and the
“modern-day slavery” of forced labor prevails. Gabriel plans to
press for U.S. leadership in passing a UN Security Council resolution on
Burma. For more information click here.

"Land of Confusion" Music Video To Be Modernized By
Disturbed
According to VH-1,
the hard rock band Disturbed will work with comic book artist Todd
McFarlane (best known for drawing Spawn, Spiderman, and Bat Man), on a
modernized music video for the Genesis song "Land of
Confusion." Disturbed's new version of the song, from their Ten
Thousand Fists album, will feature several of the miscreants who
grace the cover of Disturbed's album cover. McFarlane worked with
Greg Capullo on the album art and says that a number of the characters
were inspired by actual people, including Zakk Wylde, Hunter S. Thompson
and Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi. The entire clip will be "a
big view of the corporate world and how it all ties into just one big
beast for me," said McFarlane. "That the world is run by one
giant thing, which is driven by greed and lust."
The video's action will unfold across different continents, with legions
of threatening soldiers wearing armbands bearing what appear to be
dollar signs descending on the civilian masses. Like the original
"Land of Confusion," McFarlane's will also feature a bunch of
world leaders: President George W. Bush, British Prime Minister Tony
Blair, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, French President
Jacques Chirac and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The video's villain, he said, will be a bloated fat cat who represents
corporate greed. Toward the end of the clip, the thousands of characters
who appeared on the cover of Ten Thousand Fists will band
together to defeat him and will then stand together, fists raised in the
air, in victorious unison. The music video will be ready to air in June.

Update on Genesis Remasters in 5.1; Abacab Is Nearly Done
According to a post from Nick Davis, Genesis' long time producer, on the
official
Genesis site, he is nearly finished remixing Abacab in 5.1
with only a few minor touches remain on the b-side "Me and
Virgil" and the album cut "Keep It Dark." Davis posted
that he will begin working on the transfer of Genesis' self-titled album
shortly. As a point of interest, note that "Me and Virgil" was
not included on the Genesis Archive
#2 box set, so hopefully this confirms that the song will,
indeed, see it's return to commercial availability on the new reissue.

Articles Posted On Alleged Genesis Reunion Appear To Be Unsubstantiated
An article posted yesterday on the Contact
Music website claimed that a Genesis reunion with Phil Collins and
Peter Gabriel was imminent. This same news was posted on Virgin.net.
News of this alleged press conference started with the Daily Star,
a UK tabloid, yesterday and since then rumors are spreading like
wildfire. To reiterate, according to a statement from Genesis'
management, there are no plans for a Genesis reunion in 2006. To date,
there is no confirmation of such a press conference from any official
source connected to the band or it's former members. More news on this
when we get it, but this information appears to be false.
