NEWS IN THE WORLD OF GENESIS
JANUARY 2008
January 30, 2008
Rumor Mill: Genesis Live in 2008?
Well, at this point its just rumor, but the word spreading like wildfire is that
Genesis have reserved a night at London's O2 Arena (where Led Zeppelin recently
reunited) for the fall of 2008. Officially, Genesis management is confirming
nothing. If this rumor proves to be more than fan fiction, it will be posted
here. This site is not normally a place where any rumored news gets posted, but
the Internet hype around this alleged news compelled me to make sure that people
understood that this information is not acknowledged by Genesis at this point
and is not verified. In other words, don't go buying your airline tickets just
yet!

Release Dates For Genesis' 1970-1975
Box Set Loom Closer To Announcement
While an exact street date has not formally been announced, it has been
confirmed that the release date (at least in Europe) for the Genesis
1970-1975 box set will be in September 2008. Of course, this set will include the
much anticipated remixed and remastered Genesis albums: Trespass,
Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound and
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway in 5.1 surround and stereo. This set makes up
the third and final set of the Genesis studio album catalog, preceded by the
1976-1982 and
1983-1998 box sets released in 2007.
To date, there is no official word on what bonus content will be included in the
box, but Engineer/Producer Nick Davis in prior months has confirmed that "Happy
The Man" (a Nursery Cryme b-side), "Twilight Alehouse" (a Selling
England By The Pound b-side), and the much desired and never-before-released
"Genesis Plays Jackson" recordings from 1970 will be part of the non-album
material featured on the box set's exclusive bonus disc. The bonus DVD content
is still a complete mystery at this point, although fans speculate wildly in
anticipation of an official announcement. As with the prior two sets, the
North American versions will be CD+DVD while the European and Japanese issues
are expected to be SACD+DVD issues. More news should follow shortly including
pre-order information.
