27, 2010 Rutherford and Banks Chime In On Rumors
About Gabriel Snubbing Genesis For The Hall of Fame Event
Rolling Stone Magazine has posted
a new article featuring comments by Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks on
rumors that Peter Gabriel snubbed Genesis by announcing that he would not be
attending the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction for Genesis. Rutherford
and Banks share that Gabriel's inability to make the event due to
preparations for his 2010 world tour seem legitimate and they feel confident
he would have attended if he could. Also of note, they mention that the
newly revamped Mike and the Mechanics (featuring Andrew Roachford on lead
vocals) will be completed in May. Be sure to check out the article!

25, 2010 The Official Genesis Site Announces Its
Being Shut Down
Its a sad day for Genesis fans. Ironically, within days of the band's
induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the official Genesis site,
Genesis-Music.com, announced
today that the band's management has decided to close the site down. The
official statement says, "The [official] Genesis website will be closing
down shortly. UltraStar have come to the decision to no longer host the
Genesis site, and until a time in the future when a more thorough web
presence is necessary, the website will cease to exist..."
While no official end date has been provided, apparently the band's contract
with Ultrastar, the company who manages the website, is due to expire. The
official Genesis-Music.com site began in July 2001 and ran more than eight
years, the last few years of which with Ultrastar. There will be a page of
links in place of the official site, directing fans to a variety of other
Genesis related sites - hopefully, World of Genesis.com among them! It will
be missed, but please be assured that World of Genesis.com plans to be
around for a very long time to come!

February
10, 2010 Phil Collins to Appear on All-Star Arif
Mardin Album/Documentary This June
Legendary Producer Arif Mardin's last project is about to be released for
the first time. All My Friends Are Here, Mardin's final project that
was started before he passed away from cancer in 2006, promises to be a
shining star on the career of one of the music industry's greatest
producers. The all-star album, tentatively scheduled for release on June 15,
2010 in North America, features many of the acts Mardin helped play a role
in shaping over the years, including: Phil Collins, Norah Jones, Barry Gibb,
Bette Midler, members of The Average White Band, Chaka Khan, David Sanborn,
Carly Simon, Dr. John, Willie Nelson, Hall & Oates, Dianne Reeves, Randy
Brecker, and members of The Rascals just to name a few.
"The Greatest Ears in Town," the companion documentary, is the visual
testament to Arif Mardin and will be released soon after the album release
in June. Under the careful eye of Joe Mardin (Co-Producer and son of Arif
Mardin), the film follows Arif Mardin's recording of "All My Friends Are
Here," while also telling his life story. Interviews with Aretha Franklin,
Sir George Martin, Quincy Jones, Phil Collins, Barry & Robin Gibb, among
others, as well as historical footage of recording sessions provide a rare
and insightful look not only at the creative genius behind the songs but
also the very special husband, father and gentlemen he was. As Ahmet Ertegun,
the late, legendary founder of Atlantic Records comments in the documentary,
"Arif developed a sense of artist loyalty and friendship that few producers
I know have ever done, because of his natural nobility. He was one of the
greatest producers of the 20th Century."
