Official Genesis Site Confirms Rumors About
When In Rome in High Definition Format
The official Genesis site has confirmed that the
When In Rome concert
video shot on the 2007 Genesis reunion tour will only be available on standard
format DVD, and that HD-DVD and BluRay high definition versions will not be
released despite prior announcements to the contrary. Apparently, the record
label is concerned that the BluRay format does not have enough of a following
yet in comparison to the cost to manufacture it (the HD-DVD format officially
died earlier this year, so it's no surprise that this version would not be
released). Rumors that the high definition format was being abandoned were
circulating for the past two weeks, but this was the first official
confirmation. This is, of course, very disappointing news for many Genesis fans.
Hopefully, this decision will be revisited later.

NME and The Times Report That
Phil Collins Has Announced His Retirement
According to NME and
The Times in the U.K., Phil Collins has
announced his retirement from the music business. These reports have caused some
speculation since some feel that these comments may be taken out of context or
be slightly sensationalized journalism.
Hopefully, Collins will officially confirm or deny this reports in May during
the question and answer session Genesis have scheduled for May 20th in Europe
(see below for details).

Genesis Plan Question and Answer Session For
When In Rome Video Release
According to
Billboard, Tony Banks, Phil Collins, and Mike Rutherford will
participate in a special question and answer session on May 20th that will be beamed via
satellite to 20 Odeon cinemas next month. The band will take questions from the
audience, but will not be performing as part of the publicity campaign for the
new
When In Rome DVD that is set for U.S. release on May
27, 2008 (May 26, 2008 in Europe). For those who have been hiding under a rock
the past year or so, When In Rome was recorded live during the band's
2007 Turn It On Again reunion tour. Genesis performed in front of an
estimated 500,000 people at the Circus Maximus in Rome, Italy last July when the
show was recorded. Billboard also reports that in addition to the 5+
hours of bonus video content that was already reported here and elsewhere that
the package will include an impressive 28-page booklet!

Major Update Underway On World of
Genesis.com!
While March may have seemed quiet on this site, I've been working on a number of
updates and additions both from the old World of Genesis site and some new items
as well. Many of these updates you can now see here on-line. In addition to
adding archived news going back seven years of history on this site which is
accessible in the Archived News
Section, I've also restored the
Video Reviews Section, the
Book Reviews Section, and brand new Mike Rutherford
and Tony Banks biographies in the
Biographies Section. I'm
actively working on other areas of this site and adding
more reviews and features in the sections mentioned above. These updates will surface
shortly. Enjoy!
